OK, fellers -

Someone brought me a single cone brass bodied National (age and style undetermined) that has had a hard life. The neck looks like a ski jump thanks to the heavy gauge electric strings (I took them off immediately), and upon taking it apart - the neck seems to be mounted banjo style on a long, square wooden beam running to the tailblock. My big hams will never be able to get inside the body, as it's not deep enough to for than a few fingers.

Should I admit defeat early, or does someone have a few clues for me?
Thanks.

If me remember me thinks the neck and stick were all one piece of wood. wow7-eyes

Don't have any ideas to help but if you start working on it, would sure like to see some photos.
